The frequent and sometimes dramatic variation in picture brightness from your television screen can cause visual fatigue in an otherwise dark room. The Flat screen LED Backlight Kit provides adequate light to reduce eyestrain, making your television display seem crisper and the colors appear more vivid. The Flat screen LED Backlight Kit can also help make the grays and blacks on your screen seem richer.

The LED Backlight is placed behind your Flat screen to increase the ambient light around the screen without shining more light in the viewer’s eyes. This type of light helps reduce eye strain and fatigue by keeping our eyes from constantly trying to adjust to the bright light levels of the screen in contrast to the dark light levels of the room.

LED Backlights most commonly operate on 12 or 24 volts of direct current from a power supply, sometimes referred to as a driver. USB strip lights operate on the standard 5-volt direct current used by USB devices. Mains voltage LED strips are also available. These have the advantages of being usable in much longer single runs without a brightness drop along the length, but are less flexible and heavier due to higher voltage and current ratings and thick coatings for shock safety and high IP ratings in their intended outdoor positions, with limited cut points. No separate power supply is needed, although there must be a rectifier between the mains supply and the end of the LED strip. The most common PCB designs use multiple parallel circuits consisting of passive dropper resistors in series with a certain number of LED SMDs, to operate at a certain current and power level with the expected input voltage. This design is referred to as constant-voltage and is rather sensitive to small variations in input voltage and to the voltage drop that occurs along long lengths of strip when driven from a single power input. Alternative design is the "constant current" design where each parallel circuit of several SMDs includes a small integrated circuit to provide a fix current to that group of LEDs, within a wide range of applied voltages. This allows the strip to operate at the same power level and brightness along its entire length, or with some variation in the driver voltage.

Why does TV screens strain your eyes?

When you watch television or use a computer in a dark room, your eyes stare intently at a small window of very bright light that is floating in the sea of darkness around the screen. Your eyes accurately perceive the screen to be very bright in relationship to the rest of the room. However, your eyes don’t adjust to the average level of brightness displayed onscreen. Instead, they adjust to the average brightness across your entire field of view.

This actually causes two problems. First, you’re not seeing as clear a contrast onscreen if the rest of the room is dark. Your eyes will perceive richer dark areas if the surrounding field of vision is not as dark.

Second, and more important, your eyes can become rapidly fatigued. With extended exposure, you’ll likely experience dry or watery eyes, general discomfort, and even tension headaches radiating out from the temple area. In worst case scenarios, with extended exposure some people experience ocular migraines—visual disturbances or even extreme headaches that result from intense eye strain.

These eye strains can be solved by placing the LED Backlight against a wall behind the monitor. That is, you want to backlight this wall enough so that its brightness matches that of the monitor. A simple strip of LED lights placed on the backside of the Flatscreen TV that illuminates the wall does the trick. These lights don’t shine directly into the eyes because they’re behind the Flatscreen TV and are aimed in the opposite direction toward the wall.

Create's a Beautiful Viewing Experience - The Flat screen LED Backlight Kit creates sharper images and color contrast while adding beautiful TV ambient lighting of any color to your surroundings. Customize the backlight to your surroundings by choosing the perfect color and brightness setting.

Crisper and more Vivid picture Quality- The additional indirect lighting provided by the LED Backlight Kit increases the contrast of the on-screen image, making your picture look better, crisper and the colors appear more vivid.

Adds Immersion - It enlarges your television, softens the picture and makes TV, gaming and movies incredibly immersive.

Energy Efficient - Like all LED-technology, LED Strip Lights use less electricity within their functioning. An average meter strip of LEDs will use about 7.2 watts in power, which works out to about 90% more efficient than other kinds of light. This makes them very affordable to run and permits users to experiment with setups that are considerably bigger with no anxiety about running up excessive utility statements.

Cost Effective - It’s true that LED Lights will cost you more upfront, but if you do your research on the difference between Lumens and Watts you will quickly learn that you will be spending less energy over time.  In time you will save on he overall cost compared to what you were spending.  Plus, you have some really great new lighting.

CONS:

- Over time LEDs can become undependable, and they are able to create various levels of brightness.

- Many LED light strips are attached to surfaces via an adhesive paste. This may also neglect over time and may make marks when removed.

Conclusion:

It is really easy to apply the Flat screen LED Backlight Kit to relieve eyestrain, dry eyes, headaches, and other symptoms caused by viewing bright TV's in a dark room that it truly makes no sense not to get it. The only thing standing between a comfortable viewing experience with high contrast, crisp colors, and no eyestrain is an LED light and a little bit of installation work.
